And in this Corner....
Max Power
What you really wanted
to know about Max Power...
Born May 21st, 1978
in a hospital on Milwaukee's east side,
"Ludwig Von Bronco"
better know as Max Power, his
mythical journey
to WSUW began. After a legendary
career with the
Lake Park Little League, he set sail for
Marquette High.
While his youthful achievements didn't
carry over to Hilltopper
athletics, he did get several
single game highs
that still stand to this day in 4th period
pickup basketball
and a HORSE victory over the nearly
unbeatable Mr.
Smith. While more athletic sports at the
Varsity level weren't
his forte, he did earn bowler of the
week during the
1994 MVHS Bowling Club Season.
Since his arrival
on the beautiful campus of UW-W, Max
has been sports
announcing and has added contributions
to Sports Hawk(c)
as a director and reporter on Cable 19.
On the radio side,
he has been on Hawk Talk(c) since 1998,
host since 2000
under the nickname of "The Coach".
However, he made
his WSUW niche not as a news reader or
a West Main DJ,
but rather on the Mad Mad Mad Retro
Morning Show.
His contributions include the weekly
Bottom 9 and the
new hot catch phrases such as
"community service",
"dormitory research", and
"Rec-Center research".
Other (not so) interesting notes:
-Interviewed a garbage can on a 1999 edition of Sports Hawk.
-Previously accused
of possessing a vocabulary void of
non simplistic
terminology.
-Lists among his
favorite current athletes: Barry Bonds,
The Jamaican
Bobsled Team, Ed McCaffrey,
Equidorian
lugers, and yes, Bob Sura (photo on right).
-As a child, lost
several teeth running through a glass door at
the dentist's
office.
-Took his 1.5 seconds
of fame when he made the final cut for
the movie
Major League, filmed at Milwaukee's County
Stadium.
-Was sworn at by
former 15 time wrestling champion Ric Flair
at a wrestling
show in 1992.
-Has been seen walking
around campus throwing his hat on
the ground
when a hot girl walks by.
